14th edition
Brandhaarden Festival
Brandhaarden is an international theater festival that brings performances from remarkable theater makers from abroad to Amsterdam. The festival offers a unique overview of one maker, house, writer, region, or theme. This year, we shine the spotlight on Theater Vidy-Lausanne, a place at the intersection of individual experience and collective issues. They create a space where today’s global themes resonate, are shared, and questioned. In a world that is increasingly polarized, Theater Vidy knows how to pinpoint the wound and sharpen the critical gaze of the audience.
In previous editions, we focused on directors such as Katie Mitchell, Milo Rau, and the collective Rimini Protokoll, writer Édouard Louis, the Southern European region (Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Greece), and city theaters like Münchner Kammerspiele, Volksbühne Berlin, and Peter Brooks Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord.
